
Jake E. Lee, who played guitar for Ozzy Osbourne in the 1980s, was shot multiple times in Las Vegas.
According to a statement from Las Vegas police, 67-year-old Lee was shot around 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday morning (15th October). An investigation is underway into the “random” shooting, which took place in a neighborhood about 10 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip.
Thankfully, Lee’s representatives have confirmed that he is expected to make a full recovery.
“Lee is fully conscious and doing well in an intensive care unit at a Las Vegas hospital. He is expected to fully recover,” their statement read.
“Las Vegas authorities believe the shooting was completely random and occurred while Lee took his dog out for a walk in the early morning hours.
“As the incident is under police investigation, no further comments will be forthcoming. Lee and his family appreciate respecting their privacy at this time.”
Ozzy Osbourne has condemned the "senseless" incident, stating, “It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today.”
“It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be OK.”
Jake E. Lee, also known as Jakey Lou Williams, served as Ozzy Osbourne’s lead guitarist from 1982 to 1987, contributing to two studio albums – ‘Bark at the Moon’ and ‘The Ultimate Sin.’
After his time with Ozzy, Lee joined the highly regarded Los Angeles metal band Badlands.
