Pete Townshend, the 79-year-old guitarist, recently sat down for an extensive interview with *The Standard*, where he was asked if The Who have any plans for next year.

“I met with Roger for lunch a couple of weeks ago,” Townshend said. “We’re in good form. We love each other. We’re both getting a bit creaky, but we will definitely do something next year.”

When pressed on whether this means new music or live performances, Townshend replied, “The album side of it… Roger’s not keen. But I would love to do another album and I may try to bully him on that.”

Hinting that The Who might move away from their orchestral tours, he added, “The last big tours that we’ve done have been with a full orchestra, which was glorious, but we’re now eager to make a noise and make a mess and make mistakes.”

The Who’s only live performances of 2024 to date were their two Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in March.

Before those shows, they performed a series of orchestral outdoor concerts in the summer of 2023 as part of *The Who Hits Back!* tour.
